Do National Anthems capture the current zeitgeist of a nation? – Australia Does It Better Competition
National Anthems are meant to allude to historical moments of both struggle and glory, and to traditions. However, some were written centuries ago and were never updated to include more recent events.
For instance, the Dutch National Anthem – written while the Netherlands fought to become independent from the Spanish Empire – still compares the Spanish crown to a tyrant. Surely modern day Spain would prefer to be taken out of this narrative 😊
With this in mind, our first mission to you is: Rewrite the national anthem in a way that you believe will fit Australia’s current personality and zeitgeist. Are you up to the challenge?
To participate in this mission, please follow this simple rules:
♣ Post a new TOPIC on au.toluna.com with your national anthem
♣ Add the letters « DIB » in front of the title (e.g.: DIB – My National Anthem)
♣ Complete the mission by 11th March at 23:59
Remember: By joining the Australia Does It Better competition, you can earn 3000 points each week and 45,000 points at the end!
