Community Spotlight: Do you have first aid training?

Dear Members,

It’s time for another Community Spotlight feature!* This week we’ve chosen a topic created by simo333, who raised a very important question: do you have first aid training, and would you be able to help another person if they were injured? Check it out here.

We are glad to see that many members have at least some basic knowledge of first aid procedures and are aware of how to handle situations that call for this. Here are some of the comments from our community members:

Paul_1948 – When I completed my course I don’t think I got a certificate, I got something etched in stone, it was a long time ago… I married an RN, so I can leave it to my wife..my wife has also mention, when you are not on duty, one can be sued,… So if a situation occurs, you comfort the injured until the ambulance arrives…

mat.j.ryan – yes I would definitely help to the best my ability. I have a senior first aid ticket.

ChelseaJane29 – I have my first aid and have just recently done my CPR refresher, this being because I am a student nurse. I definitely would step in and help someone who was injured or unconscious, you cant be sued for doing CPR on a unconscious person.

As Summer is drawing nearer and we are spending more time in or around water, it is especially important to consider whether you know the first aid basics. Hopefully you will never be in a situation where you would need to use these skills, but it is always a good thing to have.
